Well there it is… Senator Bernie Sanders, who has spent most of the last 5 years running for President (2016 against Hillary Clinton) through 2018 and 2020, has ended his campaign for President, completely clearing the path for Former Vice President Joe Biden to become the presumptive nominee for the Democratic side.
Sanders, who has an incredibly strong and fierce base. In 2016, many Sanders supporters sat out of the General Election or did not support Hillary Clinton for President, leading the way for the improbably Trump win. Sanders has often said this was not the case, but has since said he will go full throttle for the eventual nominee, encouraging his supporters to rally as well.
Sanders has become the champion for progressive issues such as Medicare For All; Free College; Green New Deal; etc. and has brought many of the most liberal ideas in the Democratic Party’s mainstream.
Sanders will address followers in a live stream this morning and Biden will have to prove to the Sanders base to join him and defeat Trump.
It is safe to say that Sanders has become one of the most influential politicians in American Politics to not become president.
